An “easy” group ride never stays easy.

Today we finally got the whole team together with our sponsors and supporters fir a long overdue ride. The ride started at Neworld Cycle in Burlington, which is one of Ontario’s Elite bicycle boutiques and a key supporter of Ascent Cycling,

The group was a mix of the Ascent riders, Neworld shop riders, and our friend and supporter Charlie Bryer. We headed towards Paris, before turning back along the Grand River on route back to Dundas. We passed through the old Good Friday course, which brought back a mix of emotions in the bunch. For Charlie it was memories of holding his hands up across the Flamborough speedway finish line. Unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for myself as vague but painful memories of the start to my road cycling endeavours.

Anyway, the team parted ways with Neworld gang for a coffee stop, where some of the boys were getting a little antsy and looking to open up the legs. With a good effort finished up and a little chirping between the boys due to some riders claiming “I wasn’t ready”… once the tensions cooled, or should I say Mike cooled down as he descended Sydenham into Dundas for a cup of joe at Gruppetto.

It was great to get all the guys together for a chance to bond and have a few laughs before we tackle our favourite time of year, Crit Season! In just a few weeks the guys will be lining up at Ossington Criterium, KW Crit weekend, and Via D’Italia.

Until than, happy riding.
